Are you struggling with headaches?

Do you have pain that starts in the base of your skull? A 'Ram's Horn' headache is one that starts at the back of the skull and progresses over the scalp into the temples.

Ocular Migraines are severe headaches that refer into and behind the eye. A common cause of these type of headaches is an upper neck joint injury.

If you struggle with headaches
there is a new treatment option that focuses on tissue and cellular
regeneration while breaking down scar tissue.

What if there was a non-surgical treatment option that helped regenerate injured tissue, reduced inflammation, helped to protect nerves and cartilage, and decreased pain?

This would be a game changer in orthopedic injuries as well as other conditions where healing has slowed or failed to progress.

Introducing Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, an innovative and new medical treatment for chronic pain and dysfunction.

What is The Headache Center?

Did you know...

Shockwave Therapy is a tissue regenerative and healing medical treatment.

Shockwave Therapy or SWT is a non-surgical treatment option to assist with tissue regeneration and healing. Shockwave Therapy is FDA approved as a treatment for chronic tendonitis problems like, Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow and Plantar Fasciitis.

Shockwaves are introduced into targeted areas based on a clinical evaluation from a Doctor of Physical Therapy. The shockwaves stimulate cells and increase new blood vessels in injured or chronically painful and inflamed tissues. Tendons, cartilage, bone and nerves have all shown positive changes with Shockwave Therapy.

Shockwave Therapy used by a trained practitioner is safe!

Shockwave Therapy decreases inflammation, promotes re-vascularization or growth of new blood vessels, causes cells to regenerate and proliferate by releasing more growth factors in the treatment area. Shockwave Therapy helps break up scar tissue and calcifications from damaged and chronically inflamed tissues.

Because Shockwave Therapy focuses on healing tissue there is a much longer lasting effect when compared to steroid injections or class 4 laser treatments. The reduction of pain was also much greater than other treatments.

Chronic headaches stemming from injured muscles and connective tissues as well as joint injury can be treated with Shockwave Therapy. If previous treatments from Physical Therapy or a Chiropractor have been helpful but did not last, and your headaches keep returning, SWT should be considered as a non-surgical option.

Frequently asked questions about Shockwave Therapy

Is Shockwave Therapy treatment painful?

Shockwave Therapy treatments are not painful and some patients experience pain relief following treatment. Treatment sessions are typically once weekly and full benefit is usually seen within 5 therapy sessions. Improvement is even seen following the completion of SWT treatment.

How effective is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy treatments average in their success from 75% to 80% depending on the condition. The type of conditions that work best are those that are chronic and slow to heal. If prior treatments like medication, injections, physical therapy and chiropractic have not completely restored you to full recovery then Shockwave Therapy is recommended.

Does my insurance cover Shockwave Therapy?

While the FDA has approved Shockwave Therapy to treat certain conditions insurances are not paying for this therapy. Medical research continues to show the effectiveness of Shockwave Therapy and over time insurances may start to pay. We recommend using a Flex Spending Account or HSA if you have one. Treatment session costs are not much different than seeing a physical therapist.

Watch A Headache Evaluation And Treatment

Because Shockwave Therapy stimulates healing of tissue there are many headache conditions that it has been shown to be successful. Research studies show improvements from 60% to 80% in pain and function depending on the condition treated.

Here are what some of our patients are saying about SWT.

I have chronic pain in many areas of my body that were resistant to normal therapy treatments. I had stopped progressing with treatment until trying SWT. My first treatment series was for my headaches. It was actually quite comfortable, and my constant headache for 18 months straight finally broke after the first session!

Matthew, tired of pain

A year after my rotator cuff repair I could not sleep on my shoulder and could not return to fly fishing, one of my favorite things. As my treatments progressed my pain got better and better.

Mike, returned to fly fishing

After hitting the ground behind the ball 17 years ago and dealing with chronic Golfer's Elbow, by the 3rd treatment my pain was completely gone.

The treatments were mild to no discomfort and no worse than my usual pain.

I can play as many games as I want without pain!

Jim, pain free golf!
